There are many substance abuses and many kind of drugs in which some are accepted by the society and called legal substances and those are not accepted by the society are called illegal substances. Legal substances include caffeine, alcoholic beverages, and nicotine and prescription drugs such as tranquilizers, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, steroids, and analgesics. It is harmless but if it is taken in high quantity than it becomes harmful. It acts as a mild stimulant to the central nervous system. It provides the feeling of well being and alertness and increase the heart rate and blood pressure. Physical dependence and unpleasant symptoms are very common in regular caffeine users.

Alcoholism is very serious problem in worldwide. It is a primary, chronic disease with genetic psychosocial and environmental factors. It is often progressive and fatal. Alcohol addiction is very common now days among teens. It is metabolized in the liver and can cause cravings in body. The overdose of alcohol can cause vomiting, tremors and sometimes death also. Cocaine is derived form coca shrub. It is commonly abused illegal drug. Cocaine is named as C, coke, flake and snow. It blocks pain sensation and stimulates the central nervous system. It produces a sudden increase in heart rate, temperature and blood pressure. The effects of cocaine addiction are very dangerous to addict. A dangerous combination of cocaine and heroin brings very harmful damage on body of addict. Heroin is also very harmful drug which is synthesized from morphine. It relieves pain and induces sleep. It causes nausea, respiratory depression and death also. Heroin is usually injected under the skin or smoked by the addict. Sharing of heroin needles can cause AIDS in addict’s body.

Marijuana is also illegal and harmful drug. It is obtained from flowering tops, stems and leaves of hemp plant. It is one of the most commonly abused drugs in the world. It is usually smoked and called as weed, grass and pot. Hallucinogens produce a wide range of effects on drug taker. It causes sensations and disturbing in body of addict. Physiologically it damages the nervous system and constriction of some arteries and rise in blood pressure. Substance abuse affects not only the individual but also it creates a great impact on family and society. Drug abuses are very destructive and harmful for everyone.
